Space & Centre

Space & Centre is a collection of 13 collaborative works by myself and poet David Page, portraying the many fragmented images of Birmingham's unseen architecture, forgotten passageways and transient spaces. The collection represents an urban exploration of the city, documenting both place and 'non place', linking destination with journey and providing a psycho-geographic record of the everyday.

Space & Centre endeavours to reconcile our notions of place and identity within the 21st century city and suggests a mediation between the space we inhabit and the space that we create.

By mapping the physical environment, through painting and poetry, a 'new' space is formed, a space to consider the connection between the real and the imagined, between place and 'non place', between self and Other.
